The Labyrinth
is a series of physical and intellectual challenges aimed at team building with an emphasis on fun and problem solving rather than physical exertion, although it does require a high degree of co-operation between team members.
A guide or facilitator acts as a scorer and timekeeper and accompanies each team. Every guide is highly experienced in the corporate event field and can fire enthusiasm in even the most reserved group.
MORNING: 8 different exercises, each involving an aspect of team dynamics. 15 minute challenges entail teams working quickly, communicating, sharing knowledge, managing their time and resources
effectively, such as...
Ropey Venture
A buried key and a buried treasure box must be found and unearthed where
different lengths of rope attached to nearby trees intersect. The ropes can
only be used in one sequence to pinpoint the first location, whilst the
theodolite is the only way to accurately identify the second.
Pullpit
A weight hidden at the bottom of a pit carries the code to open a locked box. The
weight is too heavy to be raised by hand, but a combination of pulleys and
platforms can be used to solve the problem.
Stumped
The whole team must climb a gentle slope without touching the ground. The only
route is via a series of tree stumps between which a single ladder can be
placed to form a bridge - a logistical nightmare.
Waterfall
The key to the treasure is hidden at the bottom of a deep pipe. Water from the
barrels on the slope will float the key. The problem is getting the water to
the pipe when all available hoses are too short, the buckets have holes in and
the pipe leaks.
Railway
A hidden key at the bottom of a sunken tube can only be recovered by floating it free with water.
The only available water is in a barrel on the opposite side of a toxic swamp.
Each team must build a railway to cross the gap and roll the barrel back to
fill the tube.
Blindfold
Teams must divide a non-verbal language to guide blindfolded team
members around an arena to recover objects in a logical sequence.
AFTERNOON:The afternoon will be spent on 4 more in-depth Labyrinth exercises. Where the
morning involved single aspects ot team dynamics, the afternoon will see teams
revolving through half-hour projects where multiple aspects of teams' skills
will be called upon. The afternoon challenges also require more thought and
planning as well as teams splitting themselves into smaller units as necessary
to get the tasks done.
Scales of Justice
The legendary Ball of Sweetness needs recovering from an
electrified pool. Only by a careful balancing trick can it be retrieved. Team members have to work quickly whilst taking 'baby steps' to ensure success.
Viral Alert
The infamous Professor Von-Foot-In-The-Grave's last known words were 'aarrgghh'..... He went missing whilst attempting to create the elixir for eternal life, instead unleashing a deadly virus on the world. The team have to contain the virus and avoid contaminating the planet.
Marooned
The team have to work together to manouvre a model ship
around a group of islands in order to recover a shipwreck's survivors - a very
funny game to both participate in and watch.
The Grand Finale: Siege Engines

We propose that teams come together for a very entertaining head-to-head challenge at the end of the afternoon. Each team is assigned the task of designing and building a mechanical contraption that can be wheeled forward from the construction area to a firing line, then fire off up to 6 missiles at the mock-up fortress, with points awarded for accuracy. A great way to finish off the day in style.
Team Sizes
Team Sizes may differ, but we suggest a maximum of 10.
Team Organisation
We recommend
that teams know in advance which team they will be part of. We would be happy to
provide baseball caps, rugby shirts or similar, in team colours for easy
identification.
