Corporate parties and networking events

Corporate event planning is different to many events in that you need to acquire from clients the a full brief and purpose of the event being hosted and what they hope to achieve from such an event. The saying that there is no such thing as a free lunch is so true.

In many cases, a corporate event will be nothing more than a social get together which help everyone get to know each other, a descrete bonding process where everyone attending may also be used as a captive audience to celebrate an event or even make announcements.

Important feature for many corporate events is that everyone needs to have the ability to talk in a relaxed environment to one another and not be drowned by loud party music. Music selection is important as this often sets the pace and ambience. To loud and there is no value, too quiet and no one will talk to each other.

Catering is also am important issue. Should you have a finger buffet where guests can eat and mingle or sit down to a silver service meal with selected seat arrangements. Give some thought to the guests that will be attending as not everyone enjoys meat.

Consider theming the venue. Even simple things like balloons that carry the corporate logo need not be expensive but suttle reminders can enhance any event. Often side messages or flyers at various points of the room will bring out any purpose of the event should the event be targeted towards a particular industry. Many events planners will also consider having a magican, a palm reader or even a cartoonist as these help people break in to conversation.

Drink selection is an important factor, do you choose champagne or sparkling wine? How many bottles or red or white wine? And don't forget the soft drinks and this includes water as not everyone wants to let their hair down too much.

Entertainment is an easy option at many corporate events as this may take the form of a large scalextric set, a fun casino, roulette table or even, in some cases a large electronic simulator like a surf machine or rodeo bull...

Venue selection is a vital ingredient as it sets the scene of an event. This is of course often subject to a budget based on per head basis. Some venues may be just right and clean and simple and need little or no theming at all whereas others may be large empty warehouses where theming is a vital part. We have access to over 75,000 venues across the globe ranging from theatres, warehouses, specialist hotels, to private rooms on yachts.

Lastly, don't forget a goodie bag... something guests will enjoy taking home and talking about. It makes that lasting impression of the event staged.
