SAROVA MARA GAME CAMP

To capture the true spirit of Africa, there is nothing quite like the experience of a safari in Kenya’s Maasai Mara. Undisputedly the richest game sanctuary in Kenya, the great expanse of golden grassland set against the distant mauve hills provides a unique backdrop to the magnificent wildlife.

Sarova Mara Game Camp is situated on a natural elevation astride two streams in beautiful surroundings, providing a breath taking views of the Mara plains.

 

Accommodation at the camp is the popular luxury tents, all of which have permanent roofing; secure zip-up doors, electricity (voltage 240 volts), tea/coffee making facilities, hairdryer and en-suite facilities. There are 51 standard tents, with a balcony providing views of the park and the pond. As well, a complimentary bottle of wine, a half hour Tulia massage, two one-litre bottles of mineral water per day, a chocolate bar at turn down time are all offered, including a gift to remember us by.

In addition, there are 20 Club Tents which offer all the luxury offered by the deluxe tents as well as superior quality furnishings and fittings, a mini bar, a much larger bathroom, an indoor lounge seating area, a larger outdoor private deck area with chaises loungers, offering magnificent views of the Maasai Mara and, of course, a gift to remember us by.

Also available are 2 family tents - two separate luxurious tents sharing a private deck area, as well all the complimentary gifts enjoyed in the club and deluxe tents. All tents are located on the ground floor and are in close proximity to the restaurant, bars and pool area.

The pool area is truly a tropical oasis surrounded by lush greenery and grassy lawns; a place where you can sit back relax and unwind, relaxing in the beautiful panorama of the wild whilst in the safety of the camp.


Restaurants and Bars

The Isokon restaurant features international buffets for breakfast, lunch and dinner with specialty live cooking daily. An amazing range of bush dining options is available and should be experienced at least once during the stay.
Enjoy live guitar music, cool sundowners and lively evening entertainment sitting around a crackling log fire under the huge velvet dome of a tropical sky sprinkled with brilliant stars, including the constellation of the Southern Cross, only to be seen in this hemisphere.


Safari Experiences

Take off at the crack of dawn for a memorable balloon ride, gliding silently across the plains as nature awakes, coming back to earth for a Champagne breakfast in the bush. All balloon rides are implemented with the utmost safety standards. Before take off, everything is taken into consideration - from weather patterns to the movement of the game - in order to fully maximize on the ride. All booking details are meticulously handled at Sarova Mara Game Camp to ensure that you have a stress-free ride.

Our experienced tour guides are delightful and knowledgeable companions during your game drives and have a very high success rate for ensuring that you sight all of Kenya’s Big Five. Plan your trip during the annual wildebeest migration and you will be privileged to have a front row seat at the most stunning natural spectacle on earth as these great shaggy creatures meander in a never ending line, with the carnivores prowling in the long waving grass awaiting their chance to attack, or the crocodiles glide silently in wait in the river as the herds ford the waters.

The world famous ‘Maa’ people popularly known as the Maasai will set the backdrop in wild entertainment as we feed you from a unique selection of game meat as well as other local delicacies – if this is too much to handle we can prepare a sumptuous barbeque dinner complete with a born-fire under the beautiful; starry skies of the jungle

New Isokon Maasai Cultural Village

Maasai Culture Showcase: Ceremonies & Live Performances. This unique display and interactive edutainment presentation allows you to immerse yourself in one of earth’s oldest and culturally rich heritage. Experience the day-to-day way of life from the Boma (Maasai Homestead) to food preparation – Maasai Way, to the recreational activities of the Maasai people. The session involves detailed talks on Maasai Herbs, their medicinal values and uses. It is capped by cultural performances and interactive cultural activities.

 

Walking safaris

Walk In The Wild Side: Interactive Edutainment on Flora & Fauna. Get one with nature. A selection of short walks conducted in the nature trails within the Sarova Mara Game Camp compound. The walks center on the unique and exotic bird-life as well as the plant-life that adorns the lodge. There is a selection of long walks done in the nature trails within the greater Mara area along the periphery of the park. The walks center on the wildlife, bird-life, plant-life as well as topography that the Maasai Mara is famous for. The duration of these walks is approximately 2 1/2 hrs to 3 hrs covering a distance of 9 - 15kms, and includes a packed lunch and game drives enroute to and from the Nature Walk Location.

 

Isokon Maasai Cultural Talk

Talk & Discussion on the Culture & Heritage of The ‘Maasai’, their traditional practices, history given by an authentic Maasai elder. An exciting journey into the rich culture and heritage of the legendary ‘Maa’ people. This is a talk session where your guests learn about the ways and life of the ‘Maa’ people and interact with culturally well-versed real-life Maasai Morans.
